Curses and blessings

I have just finished listening to a series of podcasts from Derek Prince on curses and blessings.

You know how we take on stuff that we hear about ourselves, Especially if it comes from someone's opinion that you look up to, like teachers and parents.

I remember my uncle one day saying that he could see it now I was going to go down every wrong track. I was shocked at his pronouncement and took it to heart...and of course it all came to pass as time travelled on in my life.

Curses do that. They undermine and create patterns like the lies we tell ourselves when we separate from God on how and why we are different. I am unlovable, not good enough, invisible, powerless....

All this week I have been wrestling with a new relationship and it came to me today that perhaps something else was playing out in my life outside of my I am not unlovable. So I decided to follow this practice. I have enclosed the relevent flow for anyone wanting to remove curses from their life.

What I notice is that every time someone tries to get really close to me I do everything in my power to keep them at bay. Just because I recognise what is being played out doesnt mean I can stop me doing it. So this is where I have been lead this morning on waking.

Removing a curse DP style:

Firstly a curse does not come without a cause
Some of the causes can be :

1. Idolatory
2. Dishonouring Parents
3. Injustice to the helpless, abortions
4. Unnatural or illicit sex
5. Trusting in flesh and the ways of the world
6. Stealing and perjury
7. Being stingy with God
8. Parents, rolemodels and Teachers
9. Self imposed
10. Words from Satan (mediums and clairvoyants)
11. Soulish prayer and gossip
12. Linked with a satan covenant (free masonry)

What you must do
Recognise: What created it in the first place. What was the source and cause of the curse. How it came about.
Repent: of what was done by me or others that caused me to be exposed to the curse.
Renounce: It is no longer mine, it doesn’t belong to me, I don’t own it and take a stand against it. Jesus took on the curse of the world so I can receive the blessing.
Resist: In the name of Lord. I take a stand against the curse. I refuse to have this in my life any longer.

Your Prayer needs to fulfill these in order to be thoroughly in line with God and what he expects in you. (I know it sounds a bit legalistic)

1. Faith needs to be based in God’s word..

Galatians 3:13-14
Christ was made a curse on the cross and he has redeemed us so that we might receive the blessing

Ephesians 1:7
Redemption comes through the blood of Jesus

Colossians 1:13-14
Through our faith in Jesus God has delivered us from the domain of darkness (Greek authority) and transferred us to kingdom of the son of his love from where we have been redeemed (brought back)

1John 3:8
Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil

Luke 10:19
Satan has power...but Jesus has given us power over the power of Satan

Once you have based you faith in those scriptures and their truth and grasped them as realities

2. Confess you faith in Christ because he is the high priest of our confession.

Hebrews 3:1
Our confessing faith in Jesus on our behalf...as our high priest

3. Commit yourself to obedience
Blessings come to those who hear and obey the voice of God Release the grace of God

4. Confess any known sins either by yourself or by your ancestors.
It may be that your ancestors that exposed you as one of their decendants to the curse...You don’t bear the guilt but suffer the consequences
To escape the curse you need to deal with the sin that exposed you to that curse by confessing and asking god to forgive and block that sin out.

Proverbs 28:13
So if you cover up you wont be blessed confess and fore sake (turn from your sin)

5. Forgive all other persons who have ever harmed or wrong you

Mark 11:25
Jesus makes it clear that if we hold unforgiven will be a barrier. By a decision of our will we lay down own forgiveness of others.

6. Renounce all contact with Satan, occult and secret societies.
And all contact objects.

Deut 7:25-27
If you bring an accursed thing in to your house then that brings the curse onto you. Charms, horse shoes etc.

7. Release yourself in the name of Jesus from the curse

Joel 2:32
If you call on the name of Jesus Christ you will be delivered.

Matt 18:18
Gives you authority to loose yourself on earth

Prayer of Release.
Lord Jesus Christ I believe that you are the Son of God and the only way to God;That on the cross you died for my sins and that you rose again from the dead;That on the cross also you were made a curse that I might be redeemed from the curse and receive your blessing; I trust you now for mercy and forgiveness and I commit myself from now on by your grace; To follow you and obey you; I ask you to forgive me and blot out any sins committed by me or my ancestors that exposed me to a curse; If people have harmed me or wronged me I forgive them as I would want God to forgive me; I renounce all contact with Satan, with occult practices or with unscriptural secret societies. If I have any contact objects that link me to these things I promise to destroy them. And now with the authority you have given me as a child of God I release myself from every curse that has come across me or affected me in any way.
